When it comes to loving pets, Santa Ana is the third worst of 100 big cities in America, according to a new survey that has no Orange County city with at least 100,000 residents in the top 50.

Consumer finance site WalletHub.com's 2015 Best N Worst Cities for Pet Lovers compared the creature-friendliness of the 100 largest U.S. cities across 16 key metrics, including the minimum pet-care provider rate per visit and the number of pet businesses per capita.
Santa Ana “earned” an overall rank of No. 98 by ranking 96th (out of 100) for budget, 95th for health and wellness and 58th for outdoor environment and amusement for dogs and cats.
The highest ranking Orange County big city in those rankings is Irvine at No. 52. Long Beach is 67th and Anaheim is 85th.
Sacramento is the highest ranking California city at No. 18. The top city, according to WalletHub, is Cincinnati, Ohio.
