A car like that from the late 1990s or early 2000s has been linked to up to a drive-by shooting and possibly another crime. The latest was last Tuesday, Jan. 28, when shots were fired from such a four-door car at a man on a bicycle.
“The victim in this case was being chased by the suspects for several blocks,” reads a Santa Ana Police alert. “The last part of the incident was captured on video surveillance. In the video you will see a male adult on a red bicycle traveling east on Myrtle Street and the black suspect vehicle following behind. The rear male passenger shoots at the male bicyclist and misses. The vehicle fled and was last seen traveling northbound on Halladay Street.”
The occupants of the vehicle may have been involved in another robbery and a separate shooting late last year, according to the statement, which asks anyone with information to contact detectives with the Crimes Against Person-Homicide Unit at 714.245.8390.
