Sandra Marie Montag Held for Second Alleged Assault with a Deadly Camry in Two Weeks

Sounds like it's time to take away Sandra Marie Montag's car keys.

She was arrested Tuesday morning on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon–the weapon being her silver Toyota Camry–after nearly striking a man walking his dog and endangering children bound for school. Two weeks earlier, the 48-year-old was arrested for the same when she allegedly tried to run her husband over.

She made bail and was released from jail for the first morning incident, but Costa Mesa Police believe she was still upset over that domestic incident when she went on her second alleged driving rampage.

Cops received a report just before 8 a.m. Tuesday of a woman driving on residential neighborhood lawns in the 1600 block of Labrador Drive, as well as driving in circles on the street. Arriving officers learned an adult male walking his dog on the sidewalk was nearly struck by the Camry and that other pedestrians, including children on foot and bikes, were endangered, according to police.

It got so bad some people had to warn others to stay out of the Camry's zigzagging path. But the car eventually wound up at Montag's nearby residence, where her husband jumped into the passenger seat before the Camry took off at high speeds north of Labrador, police said.

Officers by then were on the lookout for the Camry, which was spotted in the Labrador area. Around 10:30 a.m., as Montag was returning to the vehicle, she was arrested without incident. She was held in jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported in either incident. Well, physical injuries anyway.
