Sandra Lilia Velasquez Will 'Dig Deeper' for Santa Ana Celebration Show

Sandra Lilia Velasquez has blazed through Santa Ana many times before as frontwoman for the irresistibly danceable Latin Alternative band Pistolera. When she comes through this time around tonight at the Cooper Door, SLV steps into the spotlight with the release of Dig Deeper her first solo album. The debut EP features four songs produced by bassist extraordinaire and multi-Grammy award winner Meshell Ndegeocello that grooves to a mellow, soulful vibe.

With the relaxed rhythms, Dig Deeper allows SLV's sultry vocals and pensive song-writing to take center stage. On “Painted Pictures” Ndegeocello provides the bass line for the dreamy ambient sounds of the second single inspired by “Let the Great World Spin” by author Column McCann. The paintings of Louis Velasquez, SLV's father, are featured in the supporting music video.

The New York-based singer, who also has a track in Spanish on the album in addition to the others in English, stops by Santa Ana on her current West Coast tour for a celebration. The event is being held as an appreciation party for the 4th OC Film Fiesta. Revelers won't have to dig deeper into their pocket as the concert is free!

SLV performs at the Copper Door, 225 N. Broadway, Santa Ana. Wed., 8 p.m. Free. 21+
