Sandra Elizabeth Rojas, 36, and 38-year-old Marie Alejandra Rojas–who are related by marriage–were arrested Monday after an investigation, says Lt. Jeff Hallock, the sheriff's spokesman.

Investigators had been looking at several residential burglaries in South County before obtaining evidence that the women had worked as housekeepers at the scenes of the crimes, explained Hallock, who noted those roles allowed non-forced entries into homes and, if confronted by homeowners, excuses of legitimate cleaning services.

The arrests were followed by searches of a Riverside residence, where “additional evidence and information was obtained that connected them to several residential burglaries in the south Orange County area,” according to Hallock, who noted other police agencies are being contacted about their own possible burglary cases. “Based on the preliminary follow-up investigation, there is a belief that there may be additional victims.”

For now, booking photos of the ladies are not available. The sheriff's department is arranging to construct a display of recovered items in hopes they can be reunited with their owners. Anyone who believes to be a victim or has additional information is asked to call the sheriff's department at 949.425.1901.
