Formerly known as the Rye Douglas Band, Rye Douglas and the Echo Sounding won’t be far from their Huntington Beach-hometown as they perform at Costa Mesa’s Detroit Bar every Monday night in August, starting this week. The haunting vocals and dreamlike, Radiohead-esque rifts elevate this band far beyond cliché indie mediocrity. Sure, they’ve only got a few concrete singles online, but they’re a great local act that is steadily extending its range and appeal far beyond the Orange curtains—catch them before their inevitable nationwide tour.
