Roy Wood Jr.

When your phone rings, pray that Roy Wood Jr. isn't on the other line. The jokester from Alabama made a sweet home for himself in the comedy world with his merciless prank calls. Packing an arsenal of spot-on accents (everything from hony-tonk country to Middle Eastern), Wood calls random people with ill news, like the government plans to cut their social security check or their ex is nixing child support, recording the ensuing tantrum, threats and hysteria. It's cruel, but damn funny. On the TBS sitcom Sullivan N Son, Wood plays a less mischievous character—a video store owner trying to survive in an On Demand world. Catch his stand-up this weekend at the Brea Improv, where he steps aside from his Sullivan comedy troupe (just for a minute!) and headlines a show by himself.
