Known for its heavy inclusion of global street artists who bridge the worlds of high art and low brow, Dax Gallery brings yet another art show of modern pop art and cultural iconography called 'Rough with the Smooth.' 'Rough' is all over the place, and we mean that in the best way possible, as your eyeballs will be mesmerized and visually stimulated with Star Wars iconography, pub signs, '90s hip hop, and hyperrealist sculptures, which is incredible on account of the show only features two artists. RYCA creates mash-ups of pop culture, graphic design, and religious symbolism, while fellow exhibiting artist Kazuhiro Tsuji sculpts giant likenesses of historical figures like Abraham Lincoln (eat your heart out, Lincoln monument!), Andy Warhol and Salvador Dali. Get an eyeful of these two artists' as their acclaimed works are here for our enjoyment.
Tuesdays-Sundays. Starts: June 20. Continues through July 25, 2015
