Ronnie Gamez, South County Girls Club Soccer Coach, Held for Alleged Lewd Acts with Minor

A soccer coach for several South County girls club teams was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of lewd acts on a minor, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Department.

Because Ronnie Gamez, 27, of Laguna Niguel, had access to other minors as a soccer coach for U11, U13 and U17 teams, the sheriff's department fears there may be other victims.

Parents earlier this month discovered “inappropriate communications” between their unidentified child and Gamez, a soccer coach associated with several south Orange County club organizations, according to sheriff's deputies, who add an “inappropriate sexual relationship” allegedly began in February and continued through March.

He was being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.

The investigation continues. Anyone with information regarding possible additional victims or any information they believe may assist in the probe is asked to contact the sheriff's Special Victims Detail at 714.647.7419.
