Ronald Reagan: An American Journey: Let the Fawning Begin

Give operators of Regency Lido Theatre this: They know their audience.

To help those in the conservative bastion of nouveau riche celebrate what would have been Ronald Reagan's 100th birthday, the historic theater that was built when “Dutch” was 27 (1938) presents the world “theatrical” premiere of the documentary Ronald Reagan: An American Journey.

That's theatrical because the same doc was shown on KCET/Channel 28 Tuesday night.

“In a time when America is searching for giants to lead us, we look at the political life of one of America's greatest giants–RONALD REAGAN,” proclaims the capstacular Lido website.

Director Robert Kline, who was apparently given “unprecedented access” to footage and other materials at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Museum in Simi Valley, is scheduled to appear and share stories about his film, the Reagan family and how the experience “touched his life forever.”

Tickets to the 7:30 p.m. show are $25. The Lido is at 3459 Via Lido, Newport Beach.
