RIP Suze Rotolo, Bob Dylan's Ex-Girlfriend and '60s Muse

Speaking of Bob Dylan . . . Rolling Stone reported that Suze Rotolo, Dylan's girlfriend in the early-1960s (that's her on the cover of The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan), died Feb. 24 after a long illness. She was 67.

According to the magazine, Rotolo inspired many of Dylan's early love songs, including “Don't Think Twice, It's All Right,” “Boots of Spanish Leather” and “Tomorrow Is a Long Time.” They started dating in 1961 when Rotolo was 17.

Rotolo, who came from a left-wing family, played a huge role in Dylan's
political awakening, taught him a lot about the civil-rights movement,
and inspired him to write and perform musicĀ  beyond old classic folk
songs.

The couple broke up in 1963.
