Rick Warren is making the media rounds to promote a book on how to lose weight inspired by his Daniel Plan, the diet initiative that had half of South County laying off that last margarita in Javier's because the Bible tells you so. That meant he got a hour to himself on CNN's Piers Morgan Tonight–and because Piers Morgan is the imp that he is, the Brit asked Warren if he's still against gay marriage in this day and age in changing societal views on the subject.
Unsurprisingly, Rick hasn't. But then he tried to engage in clever double-speak in trying to claim that he doesn't hate the gays because he's opposed to gay marriage–yet still revealed himself a homo-hater in the process.

“I'd like to reposition it this way,” Warren told Morgan, when asked about marriage equality. “I'm more against the redefinition of the term marriage than anything else. I don't think other groups get the opportunity to redefine a term. For instance, if a Muslim says this is a term we use and all of the sudden I take that term and mean it for me, well, that's not right.”
Of course it's right, Rick. You're advocating cultural imperialism, which went out of fashion around the time of World War I. Last time everyone check, gay marriage hasn't changed straight marriages.
Warren continued. “I think historically, around the world, the vast majority of people would say marriage means one man and one woman in a commitment. Don't take a term and and make it something different. Orwell talked about doublespeak, where words mean the exact opposite of what they used to mean.”
And then Warren slipped into 1984, when he told Morgan “I fear the disapproval of God more than I fear your disapproval or the disapproval of society” just shortly after stating “It's not against the law for you to love anybody–a man or a woman.” But it is against your law, Purpose-Driven® Rick–and your beloved Bible, according to your interpretation, would see LGBT folks off to the gas ovens. Wouldn't it be refreshing if Warren just stated this instead of tiptoeing through the tulips?
