Rainforest Cafe in South Coast Plaza Closed To Make Way For Din Tai Fung

The news came fast and furious. The Daily Pilot reported that Rainforest Cafe in South Coast Plaza closed this week after 16 years in business. Locations in Ontario Mills, and of course, Downtown Disney, will continue.

In a prepared statement, Rainforest Cafe's chief operating officer and senior vice president said that the mall decided not to renew their lease. Why? Well, as we reported here several months ago, Din Tai Fung, which was revealed to move into the mall, is going to take the space.

The beloved and lauded Taiwanese dumpling house, famed for its juicy pork dumplings with U.S. locations in Arcadia and Bellevue, Washington, will occupy 8,000-square-foot space at the mall, about half of the square feet previously claimed by Rainforest Cafe.
