Quick, what are you doing this weekend?
Does it involve meat?
No? Well, it should. Orange County's BBQ Festival is coming up this Saturday, June 12, 2010 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Orange County Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa.
In addition to lots of barbecue, the festival features a classic car
show, a Mr. BBQ competition (bring dark, dark sunglasses for this one), a
rib eating competition and live entertainment. Sample barbecue and vote
for your favorite.
The Four-Q BBQ team, made up of food bloggers who met and shared an obsessive love of barbecue smokers and a serendipitous talent for rubbing spices onto meat, will be there in force, or at least most of the force. These folks, who have won five People's Choice awards in a row, do some serious things with meat–and yet they met in real life for the first time just a couple of weeks before the first competitiobn.
Professor Salt, BBQ Junkie and Sylvie will representing the four Qs, now that Big Mista has launched his own (immensely popular, lauded, excellent, etc., etc.) barbecue business.
Come out and cheer on some food bloggers, eat some barbecue, and do it all in the name of charity! Proceeds from the event will benefit Kristie's Foundation, a resource for terminally ill children and their parents; specifically, the money will go toward building Kristie's Place, a place for hospice and transition care for terminally ill children.
