In time for the 35th anniversary of the fall of Saigon at the end of the month, Random House is publishing a $15 paperback version of “A Sense of Duty: Our Journey from Vietnam to America” by Mission Viejo resident Quang Pham.

Since he wrote the memoir's epilogue last November, Pham–who
served in the U.S. Marines and is a successful business owner–decided
to withdraw from the race before the primary. But his effort won praise
from numerous Republican Party heavyweights and he still strongly hints
that holding elective office is among his dreams.
his many achievements, Pham is the first Vietnamese refugee to become a
Marine Corps aviator. He flew helicopter missions in the Persian Gulf
War and over Somalia. When he entered service in the mid-1980s, a
berating sergeant called him “Fang, Fong, Fam!” and asked him if he was a
Viet Cong spy.
