Puccini's “Tosca”

Entering a new phase of musical performance, the Pacific Symphony's opera initiative continues to soar after the immense success of last year's semi-staged portrayal of Puccini's La Boheme. This year, they take on the master composer's exquisite, grand tragedy Tosca. Starring Claire Rutter as the lead role, this romantic torrent gets wings from both the Pacific Chorale and Southern California Children's Chorus, creating an ethereal, haunting rendition of a tale of love, jealousy, deceit and murder. With the orchestra not in a sub-level pit but rather right on stage, and the singers in front of the musicians, this opera classic floods audiences with the full impact of Puccini's powerful music and story.
