When you're up against a much bigger opponent and find out you have a friend you never knew existed, it's the best feeling in the world; so states Paddy Considine's character Dai in the 2014 comedy Pride. Based on a true story, Pride takes place during the Margaret Thather-era of London when coal miners were protesting the government's strict closures of mines; who should come along for support but the lesbian and gay activists of London. The two groups then form an unlikely solidarity to back each other's causes, at the same time breaking down misconceptions about their respective lifestyles. Featuring a delightful ensemble cast, some irreverent humor and a glimpse at gay and lesbian history, you can see it at the Frida, where you'll also be treated with a preview of the Brad Brafford LGBT Center after the screening.
