Would you rather live a peaceful albeit slightly boring life? Or would you rather trade it all in for a singular moment of absolute glory? That's what title character Pippin must decide in this acrobatic circus-themed musical. The winner of four Tony awards in 2013 (and the most nominated show of that year), Pippin is a high-flying spectacle that became a Broadway standard over the years (it originally debuted in 1972), but the tale is anything but expected. Pippin is actually about a young prince having something of an existential crisis—and the story is filled with betrayal, sex and murder. But this production's addition of the Montreal-based circus company Les 7 Doigts makes it a very lively affair. So if you're into the surreal, head over to Segerstrom this week for their Pippin.
