ORIGINAL POST, SEPT. 24, 2:38 P.M.: The Orange County Sheriff's Department is reaching out to the public in hopes of finding Paul Jon Coppin, who has been missing from his San Clemente home since last Tuesday, Sept. 17.
He was last seen around 11:30 a.m. last Tuesday at his home. When his roommate returned there at about 1:30 p.m., Coppin was not there, and he has not been seen or heard from since. His cell phone and all other personal belongings were left behind, and it is not believed he has with him any cash or credit cards.
Coppin speaks with his mother on a daily basis, and she finds it highly unusual she has not heard from him since he was last seen, according to a sheriff's department statement. Coppin, who has ties to Garden Grove and may be in that area, could be in need of medical attention, authorities fear.
He turns 47 on Oct. 6 and is white, 6-foot-2, 190 pounds, with green eyes, short brown hair and the following tattoos: “Mom” on his left arm and barb wire on his right wrist. He also has a scar on his inside right arm.
He was last seen wearing blue and white shorts, a light-colored t-shirt and white and blue running shoes.
Anyone with information regarding Coppin's whereabouts is asked to call the Orange County Sheriff's Department at 714.647.7055 or 714.647.7000.
