A 45-year-old paroled registered sex offender who got his jollies patting his belly and exposing his junk to lady shoppers has pleaded guilty to being the Orange County mall flasher, immediately earning a 10 year state prison sentence.
Patrick Dodenhoff accepted a plea deal that had him copping to eight felony counts of indecent exposure. A conviction without the admission of guilt would have set him up for an additional two years in the can.
He has an … ahem … colorful history. According to online records, Dodenhoff was popped at least seven times for indecent exposure from 2007 to 2008. He was also convicted Nov. 22, 1999, of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 16 in Santa Rosa, Florida, where he was forced to register as a sex offender. But Florida's pervert database indicates he later moved to an "unknown" part of California.
That Cali area was known by September 2008, when Dodenoff became the subject of weird news columns published across the country. Police responding to an indecent exposure report chased him from Atascadero to Pismo Beach, where the then-39-year-old was found hiding in brush near Pirate's Cove. So what's so weird about that? It's a nude beach. Flasher? Done in at nude beach? Get it?
OK, weird-ironic would be more accurate.
Dodenhoff was released from prison last December and living in San Luis Obispo. The parolee removed his GPS monitoring device on March 3 and came down south for his sicko playtime.
Besides admitting to flashing his junk in Brea, Irvine, Mission Viejo, Westminster, Huntington Beach and Laguna Hills, Dodenhoff conceded he had failed to register as a sex offender in 2009, according to prosecutors.
