One Women's Shelter Collects Toiletries and Another Cosmetics Thanks to Holiday Heroes

Let's talk toiletries.

No one talks about toiletries, except perhaps those who sell toiletries, although to be fair a San Juan Capistrano substance abuse rehab program is talking toiletries too. The New Method Wellness Center hosts the 22nd annual Anne P.J., Holiday Party, where toiletries will be collected for The Lynn House, a drug- and alcohol-free shelter for women in Costa Mesa.

Attendees are asked to bring a dessert and enough toiletries for two women, for which they will be treated to a train ride and visit from Santa.

“Many of us take toiletries for granted in our every day lives, however there are those who would be fortunate enough to have them,” say the event organizers. “This holiday party is a great opportunity for everyone to come together as a community for a conjoined cause.”

It runs from 1-5 p.m. Dec. 8 at New Method, 31473 Rancho Viejo Road, 101, San Juan Capistrano. Call Valerie at (949) 951-1824 for more information.

Meanwhile, Casa Teresa, an Orange shelter for pregnant women, is one of five beneficiaries of beauty product donations by Jane Cosmetics. For every Jane beauty product purchased through Dec. 27 at participating Kohl's and Ulta Beauty stores throughout California, the cosmetics company will donate one item to the five charities.

The others are Good Shepherd Shelter and For Women Only, Inc. in Los Angeles, The Mary Magdalene Project in Van Nuys and House of Ruth in Claremont, and along with Casa Teresa they will not only reap benefits of sales in the stores but those online through www.janecosmetics.com.
