Old Towne Orange Farmers Market Debuts, a Success

Though the weather was overcast Saturday morning, and parking was at a premium, that didn't stop hundreds of people from attending the debut of Orange's latest farmers' market, the one with the most potential upswing.

As Edwin previously wrote, Gabbi's Mexican Kitchen head Gabbi Patrick and the Memphis boys are involved in the group organizing this farmers' market, Orange Home Grown. But also in the mix is the queen of farmers' markets in Southern California: Laura Avery of Santa Monica Farmers Market fame and an OC resident (!). She was scheduled to appear Saturday, but I didn't stick around because I had to give a history lecture somewhere or other. The usual suspects of a farmers' market were there–raw almonds and veggies, cool nonprofits, and balloons, with promises of more to come.

Congrats, Old Towne Orange Farmers Market! The space at the old Villa Park Orchards Packing House is massive and gorgeous, and we see only success for ustedes. Now, time to get some luxe loncheras in the mix to push you past Irvine. . . .
