OC's Wild Child Picked to Perform on “The World's Greatest Tribute Bands”

Though they're normally used to being sought after on the local level at venues like the Coach House or House of Blues Anaheim, OC native Dave Brock and his Doors tribute band Wild Child are taking the art form of playing another band's songs to a whole new level. The band have recently been selected to perform on the live National TV program The World's Greatest Tribute Bands, which as you probably guessed, seeks to find the best cover band out there. The group's performance airs on May 6.

The show pits 12 bands that play the music of groups like of Fleetwood Mac, Elton John, Van Halen, Queen, the Doors, and U2 against each other. The event takes place each Monday at The Roxy Theatre on Sunset.

It airs weekly nationwide on AXS TV (formerly HDNet), which is the the network co-owned by Mark Cuban & Ryan Seacrest Productions. The show is hosted by TMZ TV correspondent Katie Daryl and is slated for a 12-week run. Tickets to the performances are free.

“Our audience will not believe their eyes and ears when they set they see and hear these bands in full tribute to legendary artists every music lover knows,” AXS TV Chairman Mark Cuban (who also happens to own a little basketball club known as the Dallas Mavericks) said in a statement.

If you're into hearing cover bands play your favorite band's greatest hits, then is the show for you. So if you have AXS TV, tune in Monday nights to see which cover band takes the title as the world's greatest tribute band. And now that we have a hometown band throwing their hat in the ring, this competiton just got much more watchable. Just how much of a chance do these guys have? Well, we're pretty sure original Doors members Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger don't give their stamp approval to just any old pack of wannabes. Watch a sample of their performance below.
