OC Weekly Personnel Moves: Nick Schou Promoted to Managing Editor :-)/Web Editor Vickie Chang Leaving :-(

Some personnel moves for ustedes:

Nick Schou–defender of the wrongfully convicted and medicinal marijuana
advocates, scourge of baton-happy cops and Huntington Beach
politicians, chronicler of the Hippie Mafia and martyred reporters–is
now the OC Weekly managing editor, effective, like, right now.

He'll be replacing me, but continue to write occasionally on his beloved
beats. Nick's first item of responsibility: find his replacement,
someone with the same investigative chops and drive as him (but a
much-better knowledge of American football). Yes, Virginia: we're
hiring, even in this godforsaken economy, because we believe in great local
journalism.

That's the good news. The bad news: Vickie Chang, who started with us as an intern, moved up to calendar editor, was a staff writer until getting laid off, got back in as clubs editor before becoming our awesome web editor, is leaving for the riches of PR. Her final day is Jan. 5, and we'll miss her terribly. But, yes, Virginia: we will replace her as well. Can you get us a kajillion blog hits every day and be equally versed in hard news, culture, and food? Then this position is yours. Email me at garellano at ocweekly dot com and I'll give you
further instructions on how to apply.

Congrats, Nick! And vaya con Dios, Vickie…:
