Who knew Sheriff Sandra Hutchens could be sassy?
Leading up to her June election, Hutchens stole a page from District Attorney Tony Rackauckas: She was wooden and stiff.
But now–when it's not her rear end on the line–the sheriff has come out with fighting words about Senator Barbara Boxer.

Saying that she wants to hear “more than just lofty rhetoric designed to score political points [on public safety issues],” Hutchens announced this week that Boxer's Republican challenger, Carly Fiorina, is her woman.
“Carly shares my commitment to ensuring the safety and security of those we serve, and as a U.S. senator, she will stand up for the law enforcement agents and agencies that help keep our streets and communities safe,” Hutchens said in a press release. “Carly has demonstrated a clear commitment to developing pragmatic solutions.”
Fiorina said she was “honored” by the sheriff's support.
Hutchens calls herself a Republican nowadays, but was a registered Democrat for many years, according to voter registration records.
