OC Pioneers Who Were Klan Members: Albert Ore, La Habra Pastor

The dirtiest secret about the Ku Klux Klan in Orange County during the 1920s–more than all the councilmembers and trustees and city fathers put together–is that one of the most-represented professions among their ranks were ministers.

You had virtually every Protestant denomination represented–Congregational, Methodists, evangelicals, Lutheran, Baptists, Episcopalian–basically everyone except the Catholics and the Jews. Hell, even the Methodist Evangelical Church was represented with Albert Ore of La Habra.
]

And here, I thought all the Methodist Evangelicals were black!

Ore came from San Diego County to preach the way of the Klan. He had previously preached in Fresno, another mecca of Klan activity–coupled with San Diego and OC, all that's missing is Bakersfield, and Ore would've completed the trek of the racialist dregs of California!

La Habra Methodist Evangelical Church no longer exists, victim probably to some doctrinal dispute or other. Would've LOVED to have heard Ore use the words of the Nazarene–the least-racist person EVER–in justifying segregation and white supremacy.

Tune in every Monday around 5 p.m. for the latest entry exposing Orange County city fathers who were Klan members!
