A coalition of Orange County faith, union and community leaders have convinced 11 souls among them to go on a five-day hunger strike over the lack of a congressional vote on immigration reform.
Members of Fast 4 Families OC will be setting up a tent in downtown Brea so members of the public can meet the fasters and share prayers, view murals, hear musicians and participate in candlelight vigils each evening.

The U.S. Senate passed an immigration reform bill with bipartisan support, but the House of Representatives has taken little action to move the legislation forward.
“Eleven community members will fast each day for five days to highlight the moral crisis that our broken immigration system has created,” reads a statement from Fast 4 Families OC.
Fasters will be introduced at a press conference Monday morning in front of 210 W. Birch St., Brea, where a list of demands for Rep. Ed Royce (R-Fullerton) and the rest of Congress will be read.
The coalition includes: the Korean Resource Center; Orange County Congregation Community Organization (OCCCO); Orange County Labor Federation; SEIU-United Service Workers West; Mi Familia Vota; AFSCME-UDW; Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church; OCIC; La Habra Iglesia Bautista; St. Anselms Episcopal Church; COR AME Church in Irvine; West Coast Christian Tabernacle; Greater Life MIssionary Baptist Church; St. Joachim Catholic Church; and St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.
