Downtown Fullerton’s Commonwealth Lounge and Grill closed early last month and quickly transformed itself to OddFellow Drinkery, which serves “Old Timey Drinks” such as Bees Knees and Clover Club. But it also begat Gonzo’s Tacos & Beer in the same space where you can have not only $2 tacos and $6.95 burritos but pozole for weekend breakfast and deep fried paletas for dessert.

Tomato Cafe and Grill has opened in the space that was formerly Nick’s Superburgers on Orangethorpe, across the street from AR Mart. The place specializes in Italian dishes such as pasta and pizza, but also dabbles in Japanese and Korean specialties such as okonomiyaki and kimchi fried rice with bacon.

A new Korean joint called Matzip Spicytarian JGY has opened in Fullerton, taking over the space from Roll N Grill. The new eatery serves spicy pork bowls and doenjangjjigae (Korean miso soup).

Alta Baja Market has opened in what used to be Honor Roll at Santa Ana’s 4th Street Market. It specializes in hard-to-find food and drink items from Southern California, Mexico and the Southwest.

Two more new places has opened in Huntington Beach’s Pacific City: Burnt Crumbs and Bear Flag Fish Company. Burnt Crumbs is the follow up to Burntzilla, serving sliders. Bear Flag Fish Company is the poke-grilled fish-and-tacos joint that has stores on the Newport Peninsula and Crystal Cove Promenade.

The Fifth has opened on the rooftop at the Grand Legacy at The Park across from Disneyland on Harbor. The bar and lounge boasts its proximity to the amusement park and a view to its fireworks. In addition to drinks, it offers sliders, fried pickles, and other small bites.
