KINGS OF LEON CANCEL ENTIRE U.S. TOUR
Kings of Leon canceled their entire U.S. summer tour in the wake of a July 29 Dallas show that was cut short after lead singer Caleb Followill left the stage to vomit, Rolling Stone reports. A band rep says Followill has been “suffering from vocal issues and exhaustion.” Because of the band's international touring commitments, their U.S. shows will not rescheduled. At the concert, his brothers suggested Caleb may be having problems other than the official “exhaustion” line. On Twitter, bassist Jared Followill wrote, “There are internal sicknesses and problems that have needed to be addressed” and, “I know you guys aren't stupid. I can't lie. There are problems in our band bigger than not drinking enough Gatorade.”
Kings of Leon were supposed to perform at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Irvine on Sept. 8. Tickets for the canceled gigs will be refunded at the point of purchase or automatically refunded if ordered online. The band will head back on tour on Sept. 28 with a show at the Rogers Center in Vancouver, a show originally scheduled for Sept. 14. From an Aug.1 Heard Mentality blog post.
WONDERCON MOVING TO ANAHEIM?
Will there be a fresh invasion of comics junkies dressed in Star Trek paraphernalia headed for Anaheim? Website Bleeding Cool reported that WonderCon, an annual comic-book/science-fiction/motion-picture convention under the umbrella of Comic-Con International, may be moving to the Anaheim Convention Center in April. San Francisco's Moscone Center has been home to the comic convention since 1987. “We have been in discussion with Comic-Con International about the opportunity of [it] moving to Anaheim ever since the inception of WonderCon,” says Mindy Abel, the senior vice president of convention sales at the Anaheim Convention Center. “Despite the rumors and blog posts, however, nothing has been confirmed.”
More than 50,000 people visited WonderCon this past year. If WonderCon does move, and with the San Diego Comic-Con just down the street (well, freeway, anyway), will these same fans be willing to make a longer trek to attend in 2012? From a July 29 post by Sahar Jahani.
