Susan Kang Schroeder Fires Back At Angry OC Deputies

“Ahhhh . . . Wayne is a friend who is just doing his job as a passionate union leader. I know at the end of the day, we have the same goal–to make Orange County law enforcement better. Cases such as the Chamberlain jail beating murder, OCSD Deputy Gerald Stenger child molestation case and this [excessive force] case give us an opportunity to dialogue and make necessary changes. We both want to be able to assure the public that when law enforcement testify under oath at trials, that nothing but the truth comes out.”

–On the way to the attend the L.A. Lakers playoff game today with her husband Mike Schroeder, an upbeat OC District Attorney media spokeswoman Susan Kang Schroeder responds to a Saturday call for her resignation by Wayne J. Quint, the head of the local union representing sheriff's deputies. After the DA's office failed to win a conviction in an excessive force case against Deputy Christopher David Hibbs last week, Schroeder blasted deputies for lying under oath or developing severe amnesia on the witness stand to protect Hibbs. In response, an “outraged” Quint mocked Schroeder's knowledge of law enforcement and demanded a swift public apology from DA Tony Rackauckas.
