A male soccer coach was convicted today of having unlawful sex with a 16-year-old female player on two occasions in his car and
at her home.

David Christopher Hernandez, 28, Corona, met the girl while working as a coach for the Mission Viejo Soccer Club. On Jan. 1 and March 31, he had unlawful sexual intercourse with the 16-year-old in his car and at her home while her parents were away.
The girl's parentals discovered the relationship after reviewing their daughter's cell phone records and finding several calls between the player and coach, who also provided–ahem–private lessons to area strikers.
The parents are the ones who called the cops.
Today, Hernandez pleaded guilty to two felony counts of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor. He was sentenced to 150 days in jail and three years of formal probation. As a term of his probation, Hernandez is prohibited from working with minors or frequenting schools, parks, or any place where minors congregate. He is also prohibited from having any direct or indirect contact through a third party with the victim.
