A New Zealand libertarian blogger who has compiled an online list of socialist politicians in the United States (“Red Reps” as he calls 'em) has at No. 6 Irvine City Councilman Larry Agran.
And, no, this is not another April Fools' joke.

“Barack Obama was not the first Democratic Socialists of America-affiliated candidate to run for President of the United States of America,” writes Trevor Loudon of New Zeal (“Promoting liberty in New Zealand and beyond.”). “That honor belongs to several-time Irvine, California, mayor and city councilor Larry Agran.”
Loudon uses this clipping from Democratic Left, a publication of “the U.S.'s largest Marxist organization Democratic Socialists of America,” as proof Agran was a socialist stooge two years before he sought the Democratic Party's nomination for president in 1992, the year Bill Clinton won:
The New Zealer goes on to build his case that after the national spotlight dimmed on Agran, he returned here to Reagan-Bush country to push a socialist agenda while catatonic Irvine residents kept pushing the re-elect button for him.
Reminds me of something I read before.
