New Miss USA, California Girl Alyssa Campanella, Believes in Evolution and is OK With Medical Marijuana

Here she is, Miss USA. Taking the coveted tiara in all its sparkly glory was Miss California Alyssa Campanella. She trembled. She cried. She threw up rocker fingers.

The 21-year-old blonde-turned-redhead out-walked, talked, posed and prettied 50 other leggy contenders last night at the 60th Miss USA competition in Las Vegas.

Watch the great unveil here:
For her final interview question, Campanella was asked if she believed in the legalization of medical marijuana.

She responded: “Well, I understand why that question would be asked, especially with today's economy, but I also understand that medical marijuana is very important to help those who need it medically. I'm not sure if it should be legalized, if it would really affect, with the drug war. I mean, it's abused today, unfortunately, so that's the only reason why I would kind of be a little bit against it, but medically it's OK.” In true California form.
Some other pressing facts about the new queen:
She's originally from New Jersey, but now lives in Sherman Oaks and will soon move to the  NYC's Trump Tower. She's a “huge science geek” and believes evolution should be taught in schools. (But what about gay versus “opposite” marriage?) She's addicted to Angry Birds. She's allergic to the sun. She's dating actor Torrance Coombs. She prefers Star Wars to Star Trek. She watches Game of Thrones. On Andy Cohen's post-pageant show, she declared she was going to pig out on ice cream, french toast and chocolate cake.
We like this girl.
