Incoming: Matt Costa at Detroit, Morrissey at the Fox Pomona

It may be late Friday afternoon, but there's still some stuff to talk about. Like a couple of big new shows coming our way.

Huntington Beach singer-songwriter Matt Costa (pictured) is one of the most successful musical acts to come from Orange County in this decade, what with his spot on Brushfire Records and tours with the likes of Oasis, Modest Mouse and Ryan Adams and the Cardinals. He hasn't played locally in a bit, but that changes as of November 6 at Detroit Bar in Costa Mesa; a show announced earlier this afternoon on the Brushfire Records Twitter account. It's part of a SoCal swing that also includes Hermosa Beach, San Diego, Ventura and LA dates. Tickets are on sale now, $15.

OK, attempting to contain excitement–the Fox Theater in Pomona continues to impress with the kind of shows they've been able to book, and here comes what might be their biggest yet since reopening earlier this year: Morrissey, on December 7. It hasn't officially been announced yet, but was reported on noted Morrissey fan zine True To You, which tends to be right about such things. No ticket information or anything like that yet. Clearly, Morrissey's popularity from both his solo work and tenure as lead singer of the Smiths means that he could play a venue a lot bigger than the Fox if he wanted to, so this is a real treat for fans–of which there are an especially large number here in his former home of Southern California.

The House of Blues in Anaheim has a few shows on sale tomorrow at 10 a.m.: Chevelle (October 30, $25-$27.50), Ghostland Observatory (November 21, $25) and Forever the Sickest Kids (December 5, $16.50-$19).
