Sort of a weak field for fliers this week–probably because of the long weekend and all that. People's minds are on cookouts and celebrating the fruits of our labor, not on designing fliers. But this one has a nice, simple layout (as opposed to the crammed fliers with pictures of every act lifted from their MySpace that constitutes plenty of show advertisements these days). You've got your info, a guitar (makes sense, because it's a benefit for a guitar repair shop), a sassy pin-up gal and a pleasant gray background. Success!
The event, a benefit for Guitar Doctor in Fountain Valley, sounds like it could be a good one: $15 for blues guitarist/former Canned Heat member Walter Trout, along with a few other acts, including a local Social Distortion cover band called Social Disorder (fairly clever, as tribute band names go). Goes down tomorrow night at the Galaxy in Santa Ana.
