Morningside Recovery, Controversial Drug Rehab Home Lindsay Lohan Blew Off, to Close

The Newport Beach sober living home that became famous when Lindsay Lohan ditched her planned check-in–and, even before that, infamous for piling up complaints from neighbors and city officials–is reportedly closing.

Morningside Recovery is set to abandon its Lido Village locale in October.

Morningside plans to transfer 36 clients to facilities in Costa Mesa and other neighboring cities, although chief executive Mary Helen Beatificato would not identify those cities for the Daily Pilot.

The city of Newport Beach, which has been battling Morningside since 2007, won a key court victory in May when an Orange County judge ruled the residential Lido Village location for the facility violates state law.

But it was only a month ago that Morningside announced a substance abuse treatment scholarship for performing artists “to honor the memory of performers like Cory Monteith,” the Glee star who died of an overdose days earlier.
