The operation is scheduled to run from 6 tonight through 2 a.m. Saturday at an undisclosed location.

ORIGINAL POST, NOV. 6, 11:28 A.M.: The Santa Ana Police Department just announced this morning it's running a DUI checkpoint on McFadden Avenue Nov. 6. YIKES, right!?! Where on McFadden? It'll be in the 1500 block of East McFadden from 9 p.m. through 3 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 7.

“All vehicles may be checked and drivers who are under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs will be arrested,” warns a SAPD advisory. “Our objective is to send a clear message to those who are considering driving a motor vehicle after consuming alcohol and/or drugs-Drunk Driving, Over the Limit, Under Arrest.”

Ironically, those are the names of the teams that took the top three spots in the standings of the old press and police slow-pitch softball league. (My team of daily journos, No Balls, No Strikes, finished last.)

But back to tonight's operation, it's funded by California Office of Traffic Safety grant, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
