Michelle Yeh Pleads Not Guilty to Charges of Sex with Two Boy Students: Update

UPDATE, AUG. 12, 5 P.M.: Michelle Yeh, who taught in San Pedro High School's science department and previously held a number of temporary teaching assignments in the area and provided online tutoring, pleaded not guilty at her arraignment today. She is due back in a Long Beach courtroom Sept. 10.

ORIGINAL POST, AUG. 12, 11:57 A.M.: A former San Pedro High School teacher who specialized in working with special needs students was to be arraigned in Long Beach today for allegations she had sex with two underage students, one of whom was taken to Disneyland and another to a hotel.

Michelle Yeh, 28, is charged with four counts of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor under 16, two counts of oral copulation of a minor, two counts of lewd acts on a child 15 years of age and three misdemeanor counts of child molesting or sexual annoyance for alleged conduct toward two other male youths, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office.

Before Yeh was hired as a temporary teacher at the high school this school year, she had contacted the underage boys when summer vacation began, prosecutors claim.

She bought gifts for the boys, spent time with one in a hotel and another at Disneyland in Anaheim, prosecutors say.

After a 15-year-old victim reported the abuse, Yeh was arrested in July, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

No longer a teacher, Yeh could be smacking the chalk out of state prison classroom erasers for nine years and eight months if she is convicted.
