UPDATE, FEB. 23, 5:56 P.M.: Michele Lynn Green is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday for stabbing and murdering her boyfriend in their Laguna Niguel home, the Orange County District Attorney's office (OCDA) announced this afternoon. Green, 50, was charged today with one felony count of murder with a sentencing enhancement for the personal use of a knife. If convicted, she faces up to 26 years to life in state prison. The OCDA says it will seek $1 million bail at her arraignment scheduled for 10 a.m. in Santa Ana.
Prosecutors say that during an argument with her 52-year-old boyfriend Richard Begley Saturday night, Green obtained a knife and stabbed him in the upper chest or shoulder area. A nearby resident saw Begley lying outside his home and contacted a family member who then called 9-1-1.
ORIGINAL POST, FEB. 23, 7:35 A.M.: A 50-year-old woman is being held on suspicion of murder for allegedly stabbing to death her live-in boyfriend, who was found lying on the front lawn of a neighbor's residence in Laguna Niguel Saturday night, according to the sheriff's department.
Richard Begley, 52, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics–the scene being the 24800 block of La Vida Drive after 8:40 p.m. Saturday.
Some kind of domestic dispute preceded the fatal stab to Begley's abdomen, according to Lt. Jeff Hallock, the Orange County sheriff's spokesman. Investigators are still trying to determine what sparked the argument or a motive, he added.
Michele Greene was booked into the Orange County Jail and held in lieu of $1 million bail heading into a scheduled Tuesday court appearance.
