Meat Up BBQ Opens in Placentia

Is it just me, or does North County have, like, a lot of BBQ restaurants now. There's Leadbelly's, JP23, Big B's, Blake's Place and I haven't even started counting the chains.

Now there's one more called Meat Up BBQ, which opened in Placentia last weekend, taking up the space of Sue Ann's American Kitchen. Meat Up BBQ is a joint effort from the people behind The Viking Truck and GarlicScapes Truck.

According to a menu I saw, their specialty here, in the brick-and-mortar, is BBQ sandwiches, including one called an “OC Brisket Cheesesteak”. They also offer combo plates with all the meats they're currently smoking, which at this point during their soft opening, are pulled pork, beef brisket, prochetta and chicken.

Sides include a fireslaw with pears, apples, red cabbage and peppers, as well as a smoked apple and black beans with brisket in it.

Sue Ann's American Kitchen lasted about a year in its spot. Let's hope Meat Up BBQ has more luck and finally cement North County as BBQ County.

Here's their website, by the way: http://www.meatupbbq.com
