Where is the last place you'd want an accused rapist working? How about the kitchen of a Girl Scout camp? But cut the 103-year-old youth organization some slack. Matthew Joseph Hamm was not arrested until after the 27-year-old took the job with the Scouts.
He was dating an unidentified woman when he raped her in Irvine in April 2014, according to Farrah Emami, the Irvine Police Department spokeswoman.
Hamm was taken into custody Wednesday near the Northern California city of Fairfax, where he was working as a cook at a Girl Scout camp that included nearby living quarters for him, Emami said.
Marin County sheriff's deputies were Thursday in the process of bringing Hamm to Orange County, where he's expected to be booked into the county jail on suspicion of rape, assault and domestic violence, Emami says.
