Mark Basseley Nakoula, Anti-Muslim Movie Maker and Fraudster, Cast as Political Prisoner

Obviously desperate to maintain the flames surrounding last year's terrorist attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya, Laguna Hills-based TeaParty.org is propping up a convicted fraudster imprisoned for violating his parole as a recent political prisoner.

He is Mark Basseley Nakoula, the former Orange County resident who sparked worldwide anger with his crappy film Innocence of Muslims, which was not–repeat NOT–the crime that put him behind bars yet again last November.

Here is how TeaParty.org is spinning it into a plea to members to participate in an email blast to all members of Congress, demand the impeachment of President Obama and donate “$25, $35, $50 and $100 or more to the Tea Party today:” By linking to this “BREAKING NEWS!”

Up then pops a story on Nakoula saying he “has no regrets” about the uproar across the Muslim world sparked by his film, promising more films and books about Islam.

He was not so bold when he cowardly posed as a “producer” fictionally named “Sam Bacile” to claim to a reporter he and “fellow Israelis” financed Innocence of Muslims. Steve Klein, a consultant on the film, would sort of clarify Bacile was no Israeli, not Jewish nor even a real person but a pseudonym for about 15 Coptic Christians and Evangelical Christians from Syria, Turkey, Pakistan and Egypt. Nakoula, who resided in Buena Park during the 1980s, was eventually outed as Bacile.

Klein, a self-described militant Christian activist from Riverside, used to protest outside Orange County mosques way back when. A Hemet insurance broker who belongs to the radical right-wing Church at Kaweah south of Sequoia National Park, Klein was at the center of legal littering dispute in San Clemente that he eventually won in court. The city had claimed the anti-immigration fliers he was sticking under windshields were litter, but an appeals court later ruled his free speech rights trumped the municipal code.

As the Weekly also previously reported, Nakoula served 21 months in prison after a 2010 conviction for check fraud, and his parole prohibited him from using computers or the Internet for five years without approval from his probation officer. He was arrested last September for failing to have received permission to use computers and the Internet to spread his movie that demonized Islamic prophet Muhammad.

TeaParty.org's “The Daily Caller” even contradicts itself about this distinction in the same paragraph:

Nakoula Basseley Nakoula is the only person who has been imprisoned in the aftermath of the organized Sept. 11, 2012 terrorist attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya, in which the ambassador and three other Americans were killed. He was wholly unconnected to the attack and was imprisoned on technical probation violations.

So, uh, he was the only person imprisoned in the aftermath of the attack AND he was imprisoned on technical probation violations.

WTF?

Nakoula, who was arrested last year at his home in Cerritos before switching addresses for a federal cell in Texas, is reported to have spoken to the Caller from “an undisclosed location in Southern California” because he “is currently targeted with assassination from several Muslim clerics, including the head of Hezbollah, who have put fatwas on his head.”

Of course, who knows what to believe out of this chronic liar's mouth.
