Born Guadalupe Contreras Ramos in Tijuana 1954, Lupita D'Alessio celebrates a lifelong career in music and television. Her first musical hit, “Mi Corazon es un Gitano” (“My Heart is a Gypsy”) catapulted her to musical fame outside of her father's shadow, popular television presenter Poncho D'Alessio. Since then she's remained active as a singer and actress for novelas and Mexican sitcoms, eventually imprinting her hands on the Paseo de Luminarios, the Mexican equivalent of the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Although her nickname is “La Leona Dormida” (“The Sleeping Lioness”), she's anything but a tired performer, and continues to perform to this day. Catch her appearance tonight at the City National Grove of Anaheim.
