Lovely Bad Things

La Mirada’s Lovely Bad Things make Pixies pop and C86 punk, which means guitar melodies doing just-barely-under-control acrobatics and wave after wave of harmony splashing into noise. If the Deal sisters had started out on one of the NME cassette comps that made bands like the Jesus and Mary Chain and the Primitives a thing, then we’d have a really simple way to explain the last Lovely Bad album, which took practically every song the kids love live and captured it with energy and wildness intact. This first Lovely Bad Things show of 2014 is also their first show after a winter hiatus (thanks to some back surgery—that’ll make you rest for a second) and the first show at the Glass House’s new blue room, so attendees are encouraged to wear blue and go crazy.

Fri., Jan. 24, 7 p.m., 2014
