The first of three parts of Long Beach’s annual Taste of Downtown series kicks off tomorrow in the East Village Arts District. Each of the two nights (March 23 & 24) will run from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. There will be painting classes, a free bike valet, and live music. Most importantly, there will be food.

An impressive list of Long Beach restaurants are participating, including a few Weekly favorites such as Beachwood, James Republic, The Breakfast Bar, and Pier 76. A sampling of the, er, samplings is available here.

The festival runs on a ticket system. On average, most of the items being offered cost about 4 tickets , with each ticket costing $1 each if you buy it on site.

Online ticket Packages that offer a discounted ticket rate can be bought in advance at http://www.downtownlongbeach.org/sales/tickets until up to 2 p.m., March 23.  If you choose to buy your tickets online, you can pick them up at the Will Call/Ticket Booth at the event. Unused tasting tickets are valid at future Taste of Downtown events, including our Pine Avenue event (June 22 & 23) and our Waterfront event (August 24 & 25).

See you there! With elastic pants!
