Legends Craft Brewery in Anaheim

With micro breweries seemingly opening every other month and with the support of Mayor Tom Tain, Anaheim has already established itself as OC’s craft beer capital. The latest micro is Legends Craft Brewery. Located in an industrial park on Lewis Street just south of Ball Road, Legends is close to Anaheim Stadium , Disneyland and Fritz That’s It—a trifecta of titillation, if ever there was one.

Legends still has that new-car feel to it, given it’s just a month old. Very comfortable with long communal tables, a couple of TVs and a bar to sit at and enjoy their ambitious selection of freshly brewed beer, the inaugural beer menu lists ten beers, with just one IPA. The Aurora Red Lager (6.2 ABV) is malty with plenty of flavor abd slight toffee aftertaste.  Don’t be fooled by the heavy color of the Diamond Head Chocolate Porter (5.2 ABV)—fresh brewed porters aren’t heavy, and the Diamond Head starts smooth and chocolatey—easy to drink. Already a crowd favorite is The Wild Child Belgian Wit, with hints of banana.

Legends also brews a pils, a brown, an IPA and an Imperial stout but the Beer of the Week is their Watermelon Wit. At 4.8 ABV, it’s a light and refreshing change of pace—fruity but not too sweet. These these ten inaugural beers are a fine start for Legends, baby steps in the right direction. Now, where’s the fast way to Fritz?
