A media news site reports there were major layoffs at the Los Angeles Times today.
Fishbowl LA does not get into specifics with numbers.
However, some of the names mentioned after the jump will shock longtime readers.

They include: columnist Tim Rutten, NBA writer Mark Heisler and assistant business editor Sharon Bernstein.
“We're told the Calendar section will
largely be spared, losing mainly expense and freelance budgets,” writes Fishbowl's Matthew Fleisher. “But that 'features (health, travel, food etc) is getting hit harder.'”
More sad news is said to be coming.

OC Weekly Editor-in-Chief Matt Coker has been engaging, enraging and entertaining readers of newspapers, magazines and websites for decades. He spent the first 13 years of his career in journalism at daily newspapers before “graduating” to OC Weekly in 1995 as the alternative newsweekly’s first calendar editor.
