Police got the call after 10:50 p.m. that someone had been shot in the 2700 block of East South Street, and when officers arrived they discovered a man down on the street with a gunshot wound.
Long Beach Fire Department paramedics responded and pronounced the man dead at the scene, and he was later identified as Lawrence Lee Casados.
The preliminary Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) homicide investigation indicates Casados was socializing in the alleyway when someone walked up and fired upon him. No description of the shooter was provided.
