Lauren Conrad Says Moving From Laguna Beach to Los Angeles Killed Her Voice

Lauren Conrad, who went from Laguna Beach High School cast member in a MTV reality show to a branded commodity with her own clothing line and bestselling tween novels, claims Los Angeles nightspots killed her voice.

Let that be a lesson to all you OC hep cats planning to relocate in Silverlake.

“It feels done for me,” cover girl Conrad reportedly says in the July issue of Marie Claire. “I'm OK with it being done. I destroyed my voice when I moved to LA. There are polyps all over my vocal chords because I was in a lot of loud places. If you listen to the first episode of Laguna, my voice is completely different.”

Laguna, of course, would be Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County, which first brought “L.C.” to national prominence in 2004. She then moved to LA for The Hills spin-off in 2006, followed by stints with Teen Vogue and Kelly Cutrone's People's Revolution.

Conrad was a millionaire by 2008–at the ripe old age of 22. So don't cry for her, she'll probably be able to buy Heidi Montag's vocal chords for a song.
