LA Times Keeps Local Online Content Free

With the Los Angeles Times having announced online readers will soon have to pay for its content, you may have wondered whether the so-called “paywall” applies to Times Community News sites, which include the Daily Pilot in Costa Mesa and Newport Beach, the Coastline Pilot in Laguna Beach and other South County communities, and the Huntington Beach Independent. Wonder no more.

Those hyper-local pubs will keep posting free content, TCN announced today.

As for the mothership, beginning next Monday, March 5, you'll be able to read 15 LA Times stories on a device before you'll have to pay for anything else.

An introductory rate of .99 cents a week will be charged for all online content, but the final tab will be $3.99 weekly.
